This DDS Generation-5 tape drive option brings performance and capacity in a 5.25-inch, half-high form factor to low and midrange IBM eServer xSeries servers. This reliable tape drive unit supports Ultra2 low-voltage differential (LVD) SCSI connections and high-speed tape backup. This single drive tape can store up to 36GB native capacity and up to 72GB compressed*. * Tape drives that use data compression technology have storage capacity that will vary depending upon whether the drive is operating in native mode ( without compression) or compressed mode. Although the compression technology used in IBM tape drives can typically double the amount of data stored on the media, the actual degree of compression achieved is highly sensitive to the characteristics of the data being compressed.
