The Motorola Vanguard 6450 is a member of the Vanguard 6400 Series: a new class of innovative, multiservice, RISC-processor based products. The Vanguard 6450 addresses customer needs for small to large branch offices with higher throughput needs to regional concentration sites. The Vanguard 6450 is ideally suited for hierarchical networks where the customer desires to concentrate remote branch offices using multiple analog/digital leased lines, ISDN, Frame Relay, X.25 and Nx64K (FT1/FE1) services. Fax, Remote VU video, and Voice Relay analog voice can be combined with data traffic over dedicated or public Frame Relay links and still maintain excellent voice and video quality levels. The multi-processor hardware architecture utilizes a sophisticated PowerPC RISC-processor, plus three additional communication processors, and, together with various function specific semiconductors, provide the best performance architecture in its branch node class.
