Avaya's 6140 has the same hardware as the 3645, but comes pre-loaded UNIStim software, designed to work with Communication Server 1000, Business Communication Manager, and Communication Server 2100. The phone has the option to be loaded with H.323 or SIP software at any time in the future, which allows users to continue with the same handset if they change to a different platform.
The Avaya 6140 features push-to-talk, which allows them to function similarly to walkie-talkies when using the group broadcast mode. A single handset will transmit to multiple listeners. This makes it ideal for industrial environments. It has a larger earpiece that offers both comfort for the users and reduces background noise. A backlit keypad and display make it easier to use.
