This Brocade SilkWorm can be used in a BR-6400 System or on its own. The SilkWorm 2250 supports cascading, a fabric service that enables any-to-any device connectivity, automatic data routing and re-routing, self-healing, and scalable connectivity for up to 239 switches. SilkWorm 2250 also supports enterprise backups, extended storage consolidation, and clustering environments. All 16 ports accommodate hot-swappable GBIC modules, which support copper, short wavelength, or long wavelength fiber-optic cabling. Media may be mixed on the same switch in any combination. Each port delivers 100 MB/sec in each direction (i.e., full duplex).All entry-level switches are designed as Field Replaceable Units (FRU) to provide optimized price performance. Highly reliable components, continuous monitoring of environmental components (fan status and temperature), and a streamlined construct all maximize MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure).Non-blocking architecture guarantees full-speed data delivery irrespective of traffic conditions. Cut-through routing guarantees maximum latency of two microseconds from switch port to switch port.
