The Cisco 800 series router is designed to provide small offices (20 employees or less) and telecommuters with access to the Internet and corporate LANs. The Cisco 800 Series is based on the proven Cisco IOS technology. The Cisco 800 Series offers a secure, manageable, multiprotocol solution for remote network access. By incorporating powerful Cisco IOS features, the Cisco 800 Series brings to small offices the capabilities usually found only in large business networks. Small business users and telecommuters can take advantage of advanced applications such as secure Internet access, managed network services, virtual private networks (VPNs), and electronic commerce that minimize operational costs and maximize revenue growth. The Cisco 800 series also enables service providers and corporations to leverage their investment and knowledge in Cisco IOS technology to achieve higher integration, economies of scale, and enhanced security for remote offices. The Cisco 804 model adds a four-port Ethernet hub and two RJ-11 interfaces for telephone devices such as telephones, fax machines, and modems. The Cisco 804 model also supports supplementary telephone services such as call waiting, call-waiting cancel, call hold, call retrieve, three-way conferencing, and call transfer (if these services are supported by a user"s telephone company). For North American users, the Cisco 804 supports caller ID out the POTS port.
