The FDDI Bridge/Router module for Cabletrons SmartSwitch allows you to connect an external FDDI network to one of the two FDDI networks on the chassis Flexible Network Bus backplane. External connections are made via standard A/B ports on the front panel. FDDI Port Interface Modules (FPIMs) allow individual ports to be configured with different media interfaces without the need for external media converters: EIA/TIA category 5 Unshielded Twisted Pair, and Shielded Twisted Pair cable.
