The DS3/E3 interface is a popular high-bandwidthWAN interface for large enterprise branch locations that enables high-quality voice, video, and data applications with reduced latency. The clear channel implementation provides such features as subrate and scrambling options used bymajor DSU vendors. The interface also supports loopback, bit error rate test (BERT), and far-end alarmand control (FEAC) diagnostic capabilities. It supports Frame Relay, Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), and High-Speed Data Link Control (HDLC) serial encapsulation protocols.
