The network interfaces for the NextEDGE products are either T1 NAMs (Network Access Module) or FrameSaver SLV NAMs (available as single or dual T1). Dual T1 interface NAMs offer additional networking alternatives to accommodate future bandwidth requirements. With dual T1 interfaces, multiple service providers can be accessed simultaneously and traffic split, providing protection from catastrophic service failures. Another application for the second T1 interface is high-speed Internet or Intranet access. The NAMs are each equipped with two high-speed synchronous DTE interfaces. The FrameSaver SLV NAM's DTE ports can be configured to support either two frame relay applications, or one frame application and one Nx56/64K synchronous data application. Optionally, the FrameSaver SLV NAM can be equipped with either a Primary (PRI) or Basic Rate (BRI) ISDN Dial Backup option. This option provides automatic dial backup capabilities to remote frame relay locations.
