The System 2000 family of 10BASE-T Ethernet hubs from Bay Networks offers simple, scalable connectivity and management solutions for starting and expanding Ethernet local area networks (LANs).
Single System 2000 Ethernet hubs can serve as stand-alone units for entry-level LANs connecting up to 16 users. As requirements grow, new hubs can be added to create a cluster supporting up to 80 nodes, delivering a scalable solution that simplifies network expansion while protecting original investments.
A variety of management options are also available, ranging from local hub management to the powerful, SNMP-based Advanced Analyzer solutions. Management can be added to the network at any time and upgraded to meet the needs of the evolving environment, eliminating the need for a large up-front investment.
The System 2000 Ethernet hubs support the IEEE 802.3i 10BASE-T standard for running 10 megabit-per-second (Mbps) Ethernet over unshielded twisted pair cabling and include integrated circuitry to satisfy the IEEE 802.3 repeater requirement. Standards compatibility means the hubs work seamlessly with other Bay Networks Ethernet solutions, including the System 800, System 3000, Distributed 5000 and System 5000 hub families, to support departmental LANs operating within larger, enterprise-wide networks. The System 2000 hubs also interoperate with 10BASE-T interfaces on Bay Networks Access Node (AN), Access Stack Node (ASN) and Backbone Node (BN) routers, as well as with the Ethernet Workgroup Switch, EtherCell and LattisSwitch Fast Ethernet switches, providing the workgroup component for highly complex wide-area network environments.
