This module is ideal for enterprise customers deploying or planning to deploy Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data) enabled wiring closets and who want Gigabit Ethernet to the desktop.

The WS-X6548-GE-TX module is compatible with all Catalyst 6500 Supervisor chassis. Integrating module with Cisco's AVVID architecture, the WS-X6548-GE-TX module can be used with the Catalyst 6500's 256Gbps switch fabric. The 48-port 10/100/1000BASE-T switching module WS-X6548-GE-TX provides 48 switched, 10/100/1000-Mbps autosensing, full- or half-duplex ports. TheWS-X6548-GE-TX has 48 RJ-45 connectors for use with either Category 3, Category 5, Category 5e, or Category 6 UTP cable. The Cisco 6548 switch module can be upgraded with an inline-power daughter card to support IP phones. The WS-X6548-GE-TX supports the 256 Gbps (CEF256) switch fabric module (SFM/SFM-2) for premier wiring closet configurations.
