The Cisco IDS 4210 Sensor is a network security "appliance" that detects unauthorized activity traversing the network, such as attacks by hackers, by analyzing traffic in real time, enabling users to quickly respond to security breaches. When unauthorized activity is detected, the sensor can send alarms to a management console with details of the activity and can control other systems, such as routers, to terminate the unauthorized session(s).
Network Interface Card: Autosensing 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, Command & Control Interface: Autosensing 10/100 Base-T Ethernet Cisco IDS Version 4.0: You can load the Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) version 4.0 software on IDS sensors (appliances and modules). The 4.0 software includes a full command line interface (CLI), Cisco IDS Device Manager (a web-based configuration tool), and a sensing component. Cisco IDS Event Viewer is a separate software component that you load on a host running a supported version of Windows. IDS Event Viewer connects to a maximum of five version 4.0 sensors and retrieves events from them. Compatible Secure Shell Protocol Clients: To access the CLI over the network, use a Secure Shell Protocol (SSH) protocol version 1.5 client.
